DRIVE Lead/Liaison

Each Regional and Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force nominates a DRIVE Lead or Liaison to be the focal point for that Drug & Alcohol Task Force area in all matters relating to Drug Related Intimidation and the DRIVE project.  Details of the DRIVE Lead/Liaison for your area can be obtained by contacting your relevant Regional or Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force Co-ordinator.

Role of DRIVE Lead/Liaison

DRIVE leads are paid positions within the DRIVE umbrella.  DRIVE Liaisons are not directly funded positions.

  • Focal Point for DRI Initiatives: Each DRIVE Lead/Liaison acts as the primary contact for DRI-related issues in their Task Force area, ensuring that strategies are adapted locally and in line with DRIVE’s broader goals.
  • Close Collaboration with the Nominated DRI Garda Inspector: DRIVE Leads/Liaisons establish strong working relationships with Nominated DRI Garda Inspectors in their areas, facilitating communication and ensuring that An Garda Síochána and community responses are coordinated.
  • Facilitating a Staged Response Process: They implement a structured, staged approach to addressing DRI within their Task Force area, ensuring that responses to intimidation are both timely and effectively scaled to each situation’s needs.
  • Supporting DRIVE Interagency Group Establishment and Coordination: DRIVE Leads/Liaisons assist DATF Coordinators in setting up local DIGs, bringing together relevant agencies (e.g., An Garda Síochána, social services, and addiction support) to address DRI comprehensively and collaboratively.
  • Cascade DRIVE Training: DRIVE Leads/Liaisons will support the roll out of the DRIVE training and capacity building as directed by the Task Force Coordinator.
  • Coordinating Local Information Sharing: They lead local information-sharing efforts to build a deeper understanding of DRI patterns, sharing insights with community stakeholders to refine strategies and responses.
  • Engaging in Regional and National Events: DRIVE Leads/Liaisons participate in regional and national meetings, sharing local data and contributing to a broader, integrated approach to DRI across areas.
  • Data-Driven Community Support Development: They leverage local data on DRI to help shape and support community initiatives, aiming to strengthen resilience and preventative measures at the community level.
